Congratulations to Gracyn Lyerla, a fourth grader who won the Bells Elementary Spelling Bee on Tuesday, November 21, 2017.   Her winning word was ‘barrette’ spelled correctly after the 33rd nail-biting round of competition!  Gracyn is the daughter of Leland and Nancy Lyerla.  Runnerup this year was Winn Crook, a fifth grader at Bells Elementary.  He is the son of Tripp and Heather Crook.

Gracyn will represent Bells Elementary School in the Jackson Sun West Tennessee Regional Spelling Bee in the spring at Union University. This competition is a preliminary qualifying bee for the Scripps National Spelling Bee held each year in Washington D.C.  We wish Gracyn the best of luck as she studies and prepares for the next step in competition!

A special thank you to Bank of Crockett (cash prize donations, Connie Reeves-judge), City of Bells (Alicia Pigue-judge), Wesley Hart (cash prize donations) and Elaine Clement (prizes, pronouncer) for assisting with our Spelling Bee!
