School Nutrition Program

Dear Parent/Guardian:

As we begin the 2018-19 school year at Bells Elementary, I would like to say “WELCOME” from the School Nutrition Program.

We are excited to announce that we will be serving breakfast and lunch in our cafeteria at no cost to the student again this year.

However, we are able to do this through a program different than previous years. Previously, we were able to feed our students at no cost under a program called CEP. This year, due to state numbers, we will be feeding our students under a Provision 2 program. Your child will see no difference in service for breakfast and lunch. The main difference for you, as a parent or guardian, is that income eligibility is a required component of this program. WE NEED YOUR HELP SO THAT WE MAY CONTINUE FEEDING OUR STUDENTS AT NO COST. You will find in your child's back to school paperwork, a state application for free and reduced meals. Please complete and return to the office of school nutrition at your earliest convenience. We have enclosed an envelope so that your confidential information is kept just that, confidential. Your child's teacher has been directed on where to place applications as they are returned from you.

Every student will receive a breakfast and lunch at no charge.

Income eligibility is a REQUIRED component of the Provision 2 program.

Remember! Each student will receive one breakfast and one lunch at no charge this year!! Students are allowed to purchase extra food items. This following is the price list. A la cart items available for purchase are as follows:

Extra Entree: $1.00

Extra Fruit or Vegetable: $.50

Switch Drink: $1.00 (Tuesday and Thursdays)

Ice Cream : $1.00 (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday)

Please don't forget about our easy way to pay on your child's account for a la carte purchases. My School Bucks will be used again this year. This is also a great way to track what your student(s) are eating each day. Check out the website at www.myschoolbucks.com.

We look forward to serving your student in the school cafeteria this year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

Misty Rhodes, School Nutrition Director
